A fine silver mounted cello bow by Pierre Nehr, made in Paris, France, 2023. It is a 79 gram octagonal bow that has a quick, energetic response, that is both firm and modulable in tone. It was exhibited in the Inaugural Bay Fine Strings Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition and Concert April 29th 2023, and a copy of the published catalog will be included with this bow.
About Pierre Nehr
At age 16, in September 1995, Pierre began his 5 year apprenticeship with his brother, Jean-Pascal Nehr in Marseille. During this time, Pierre also finished an apprenticeship in 1998 in Mirecourt.
In 2000, Pierre went to Paris to work in the workshop of Gilles Chancereul, luthier and expert.
In 2002, Pierre opened his workshop in Paris, devoting himself to the making of bows and restoration of old bows for various luthiers and international collectors.
Pierre's bows are entirely handmade according to French tradition, where the work is influenced by the great French masters of the 19th century to which he brings his personal style. Currently, he works only on the creation of new bows.
Pierre's bows are played by orchestra musicians, chamber musicians, concertmasters, soloists, as well as collectors around the world.
