This is an interesting example of this rare, Mirecourt maker. Couturieux ran a small workshop from 1830 to 1850 and used the last name of Deroux (his wife's last name) in addition to his own.
A compact viola, but not without ample rib height and a powerfully flat arch. This instrument comes with a top certificate and is fire-branded with the maker's typical hallmark.
